Don’t wait this long before changing a part. The old expansion tank (guess which one?) developed a leak at the horizontal seam.

Isn’t the reservoir made by the seam therefore a link existed way before you discovered it?

Known failure point in C30/S40/V50. Check your radiator hoses too, they can also fail and grenade the motor.
